Midtown Hydro Project Update
Hello,
I am writing to provide you with an update on the Midtown Project. The Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) successfully broke through the shaft on the evening of October 3. Technicore has been lifting it out in pieces and we expect it to be fully removed this week. Following this, it will travel on a flatbed truck to the main shaft at Mount Pleasant Rd.
I would also like to share an updated schedule for work at Bayview Junction. As you many of you know, we experienced a set-back in project timelines when the tunnel at the Mount Pleasant site collapsed in October of last year. This, along with some unforeseen construction issues has caused a delay in the project schedule. The updated schedule is as follows:
· Line tunnel with concrete: late October 2013 to February 2014
· Cable installation within the tunnel: June 2014 to Feb 2015
o This work will primarily occur inside the tunnel, however there will be some work on the surface.
· Installing new equipment at Bayview Junction: intermittently throughout 2015
o This work will occur in stages throughout 2015. Timing for the work at the junction is dependent on when Hydro One can take the equipment at the station offline, to safely install new components. Typically, Hydro One schedules these outages during times where there is not a high demand on the electricity system. The community will not experience an interruption in power as a result of the outages at the station.
· Old Pottery Road access removal, rehabilitation of site, and landscaping: 2016
o This timing could change depending on when the new equipment at the junction is installed.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Midtown Hydro Project Update
Hello everyone,
I wanted to provide you with an update on the Midtown Project. Tunnel excavation has been progressing very well, and Technicore expects that the tunnel boring machine (TBM) will reach the shaft later today, or tomorrow. When the TBM breaks through the tunnel and into the shaft, residents will hear a significant increase in noise at that moment. Please don’t be alarmed if you hear a loud banging noise.
Next week, the TBM will be removed from the shaft, and travel on a flatbed truck along the construction access on Old Pottery Road to Bayview Ave, where it will travel to the main shaft at the Rosehill pumping station.
Over the next several weeks Techniore will be preparing the site so that the tunnel can be lined with concrete and the freeze plant equipment will be removed. Once the work to line the tunnel begins, residents will notice concrete trucks travelling to and from the site. We expect that this will be similar traffic as earlier this year, when Technicore was pouring concrete for the shaft.
Thanks,
Marylena Stea
