Winter Update from the GBRA
It has been an eventful year for the community with the installation of the soccer net, a good turn outat the 46th Annual GBRA Picnic and the re-sodding of Nesbitt Park. Unfortunately, our membershipfor 2013 droppedto 53 paid members versus 72 in 2012. So if you haven’t paid your $40 membership dues, please drop an envelope at 51 Douglas Crescent (Gavin Brimer, GBRA Treasurer) with a cheque made out to GBRA.
There are 3 updates we’d like to share with you. If you have comments or suggestions, please reach out to any of the board members listed below.
1. Toronto – Centre Candidates debate at Rosedale United Church – Thursday,November 21st 7 pm to 9 pm.
Invited candidates are:
- Chrystia Freeland – Liberal Party
- John Deverell – Green Party
- Linda McQuaig – NDP
- Geoff Pollock – Conservative Party
This important debate is being hosted by the community Associations of North & South Rosedale, Summerhill, Moore Park and Governor’s Bridge. Further information can be found in the attachment.
2. Little Free Library (LFL)
A request was made by a number of residents to install a Little Free Library in Nesbitt Park. This installation requiresToronto Parks and Recreation install a 4×4 wooden post on which the LFL would be mounted. Ideally, this TFL would be set up near the entrance benches in the park. We are fortunate in having Councillor Mary Fragedakis working with the Parks team to expedite this project.
3. GBRA Annual General Meeting
Our annual meeting is scheduled for Tuesday January 14th at7 pm in Rosedale United Church. This meeting is your opportunity to participate and help shape your community. Part of the meeting will include a discussion on how you would like the GBRA to communicate with members about community challenges and improvements.
We are also looking for 3 new board members to join the GBRA. Please contact me if you would like further information.
