The first art installation is a series of gargoyle sculptures by Duane Linklater, who is Omaskêko Cree from Moose Cree First Nation. The installation opening is scheduled for July 2017 and the location is between the Pottery Rd entrance and the Bloor Viaduct on the trials. The Gargoyles are cast concrete and located on the Lower Don Trail. The sculptures are casts of gargoyles adorning prominent buildings in downtown Toronto. Linklater’s project stems from an interest in the structural changes made to the Lower Don River as it became an industrial hub in colonial Toronto.
o The first live art performance will take place on July 6th and 8th near Corktown Common by Maria Hassabi, a New York based artist and choreographer.
