This Friday, Hydro One will be replacing a wire along the overhead section that extends from the Leaside Transformer Station to Bayview Junction. There is no electricity flowing through this wire; however it protects our infrastructure from lightning strikes, and will include communication fibers which the existing wire does not have. This will improve communication between stations, allowing for more flexibility and better reliability in the Toronto system.  There will be no change in the appearance of this line from what it is now once this work is complete.

Pending confirmation from CP Rail, these activities will occur from Friday, October 2, to Monday October 5. Work on Saturday and Sunday will not start until 9 a.m. and work each day will be complete by 7 p.m. Hydro One crews will be working over the weekend in an effort to maintain the schedule, and also to coordinate with CP Rail.  Residents will notice a crane onsite, and a machine will be set up at the base of each tower to help with installing the wires.

With respect to the fence, before we can begin landscaping, there is a significant amount of work that needs to be done including the contractor removing their equipment and trailers, removing gravel, and grading the area. For safety, the fence will remain until these activities are complete. We can provide a better update on this timing once this work begins.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for your patience.

Dear Neighbours,

We hope you had a great time at the annual Community Picnic on Sunday. We wouldn’t be able to have such a successful event without the help of the businesses and groups in the community that support us.

ValuMart

A big thank you to Chad McDowell owner of ValuMart on Bayview. Chad generously provided us with drinks, condiments, hotdog and hamburger buns and other supplies. Drop in to ValuMart if you haven’t been there in a while! (Extra thanks to Fernando who helped us out on the Sunday pickup).

Life Choices / Grandview Farms
A huge thank you to Matt from Life Choices & Grandview Farms for the hot hogs and hamburgers made from responsibly raised grass fed beef. If you liked those, you’ll love their Rolling Meadow Dairy grass fed milk. Give it a try today!!

Summerhill Market
Many thanks to Summerhill for supporting our event each year with the tender, fresh corn we all enjoyed plus the awesome $100 gift certificate which was a big hit at the raffle!

Starbucks

A big thanks to Carl-Ann from Starbucks for donating the coffee for the events. There were many grateful parents who enjoyed a cup.

Police & Fire
The excitement from the kids at seeing the Police officers and their bicycles as well as the car (and of course the siren), The Fire Fighters and the fire truck were of course a big hit! Thank you to both police and fire for being part of our community event and for keeping us safe all year round.

See you next year,
Karri and the GBRA

p.s. The food was lovely, but we have a few things left behind:
White ceramic tray with handles
Salad serving fork and spoon
Pie lifter
Cuisinart serrated knife
